Welcome

In the countryside, yet close by

At the southern end of the Lusi straight, right by the junction of national roads 4 and 5, stands Sininen Talo – the Blue House. Built in the mid-1800s, it was where the village children learned to read for more than a century. Today its halls are filled with celebrations, coffee and homemade treats.

    Our story

From a tax registrar's home to village school and celebration venue

Sininen Talo has been a tax registrar's home, an elementary school, teachers' housing and the Satulinna kindergarten. Within its walls children have learned to read, school-kitchen potatoes have been peeled, opera roles rehearsed and kindergarten games played.

    1. Mid-1800s
Tax registrar E. A. Vinter builds the Rauhamäki estate.
    2. 1882
The municipality buys the estate and it becomes the Lusi elementary school.
    3. 1966–1969
Future opera singer Jorma Hynninen teaches at the school and lives in the teacher's flat.
    4. 2008
The house becomes the Satulinna kindergarten.
    5. 2024
The town sells the old school buildings, and Kaisa and René Kromhof buy Sininen Talo.
    6. 2026
The restored house opens its doors as Sininen Talo.
